WHO SHOULD VISIT THE CU CHI TUNNELS?
Many people asking me : my father have back problem, can he join the tour? Is it safe for my kids? I can not stay too long in the tunnels, can i join, is it safe for me?….
Here is the answer: everyone can join the Cu chi tunnels half day tour with Saigon Adventure. Regarding the tunnel crawling experience, it is actually only 100m to 150m in length. Every 30m, there is an exit, so you can stop crawling every 30m. The total time spent crawling is only 2-10 minutes, depending on the length of the tunnel you choose to crawl.
For those who do not want to crawl through the tunnels, you can walk above ground with the guerrilla soldiers assigned here to guide and assist you to the end point of the tunnel section. You will meet the others here (it only takes 2-3 minutes to walk). You will still experience the full Cu Chi tunnels tour, just skipping the 2-10 minute tunnel crawling part.
“Tips to Beat the crowds”
Cu Chi Tunnels is always very busy and often crowded every day of the week! The crowds increase weekend and during Vietnam’s holiday periods and weekend. There can be long morning-queues at every stops with overcrowding on any day you visit.
Here are our tips for enjoying this tour with us:
For Private Tour : we make an early start ( at 7:30 AM or 7:45 AM ) to arrive at the tunnel before the long unruly queues that build-up with the arrival of the large group tours. Finish your day mid-afternoon means you miss homewards rush too. This is important advice for families traveling with elders and young children ( you will be back to the city on time for lunch). Or you can depart at 10:00 AM to avoid big crowds.

How long will our Cu Chi Tunnels adventure take?Get ready for a fantastic half-day trip! Including our comfy ride from Ho Chi Minh City, the whole experience usually takes about 6 hours. If you choose a full-day tour that adds another awesome spot like the Mekong Delta, you'll be looking at around 10 to 11 hours
-
Is crawling through the tunnels going to be a tough workout?Don't worry, it's mostly gentle! While there's a bit of walking and standing, the tour isn't super strenuous. The most "active" part is crawling through the actual tunnels, which can be a bit snug, dark, and humid. But hey, it's totally optional, so no pressure if you prefer to skip that part!
-
Can I really go inside the tunnels, and is it safe to do so?Absolutely, you can! We've got specially renovated sections (like 20, 50, or 100 meters long) where you can crawl inside for a truly authentic feel. They're kept safe and sound for visitors, and our friendly staff are always on hand to help. Just a heads-up, if you're not a fan of small spaces or have trouble moving around, it's perfectly fine to watch from the outside!
-
What cool historical stuff will I learn on this tour?Prepare to be amazed by the incredible stories of resilience! You'll discover how Vietnamese guerrilla fighters lived and fought, learning all about their clever tricks, like secret entrances, hidden traps, and even awesome ventilation systems. We'll kick things off with a fascinating documentary, giving you a super clear picture of this unique place.
-
Can I actually try shooting a real gun at Cu Chi? That sounds exciting!Yes, you totally can! At the Cu Chi Tunnels Ben Dinh site, there's a safe and supervised firing range. If you're feeling brave, you can pay a little extra to try shooting different types of real firearms, like an AK-47 or M16, under expert guidance. It's quite an adrenaline rush!
-
What should I wear and bring along for our tunnel adventure?Comfy is key! We suggest wearing comfortable clothes and shoes that are good for walking. Definitely pack sunscreen, a hat, and some insect repellent, especially if you're sensitive to bites. And don't forget your camera to capture all those amazing moments!
-
Is the Cu Chi Tunnels tour a good fit for kids?It sure can be a fascinating and educational adventure for kids! They'll get a unique peek into history. Just keep in mind that some parts cover war history, and the tunnels themselves can be a bit tight, so consider if your little ones will be comfortable with that.
-
How far away are the Cu Chi Tunnels from Ho Chi Minh City? They're about 70 kilometers (around 43 miles) northwest of Ho Chi Minh City. Our comfy ride usually gets you there in about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on how busy the roads are. Easy peasy!
-
Will we have a friendly guide who speaks English?Absolutely! All our tours include a super friendly and knowledgeable local guide who speaks great English. They'll share all the fascinating stories, give you heaps of info, and happily answer all your questions throughout your visit.
-
I heard there are two sites, Ben Dinh and Ben Duoc. What's the difference?Great question! Ben Dinh is the most popular and easiest to get to, packed with all the main highlights like the firing range. Ben Duoc is a bit further out but offers a larger, more authentic, and less crowded experience, with more of the original tunnel system intact. We usually visit Ben Dinh for the most complete tourist experience!
